very good umbrella but could use a few extrasNov 26, 2008 I have sun intolerance so I am especially aware of how sun products work. To begin with, this umbrella's diameter is not nearly as big as they claim to be. Also, it could use a few more coatings of the sun resistant substance, many of the suns rays still penetrate when it is very bright. Also, they could make it a bit more durable. I use one everyday and I generally find they last about 6 months.
Other than those suggestions I think it is a great product, it does amazing even when it is excessively windy and it works in the rain too. The sun protection is adequate, though not perfect.

Hey, it's an umbrella!Oct 27, 2008 I don't have much to say about this product. It's an umbrella. What can you say? This model serves double-duty: summertime shielding, and rainy season umbrella. It's a little on the bulky side because of the two layers that make up the umbrella. But these are the only umbrellas on the market that can really take a puff of wind.

Fabulous, snazzy umbrella that does what it claims.Oct 26, 2008 Like most others, I bought this umbrella because the previous pathetic excuses for umbrellas that I once had could not withstand the high wind gusts and frequent sideways rains that occur in Eastern and Central Montana. I chose the SunBLOK because I'm not a big fan of heat, and sometimes shade is difficult to find when you need it.
It's a very good-sized umbrella, if you like a large one (which I do). I wanted an umbrella that could fit at least 3 adults within its span, or 1 adult and 3-4 kids. This umbrella manages those tasks quite well. During the hot months this last summer, it lived up to its claims of "10 degrees cooler" --- I often held it up for my Mom-in-law (who was going through chemo and could not have sun on her; another fantastic element of this umbrella that I hadn't even considered when buying it), and my Grampa-in-Law (the most outstanding 96 year-old gentleman I've had the honor of knowing), and it worked for all of us. Kept us much cooler, and definitely kept the sun *blocked*.
One word: This umbrella is *sturdy* and extremely well-built. Because of this, it's like a Suburban: HEAVY. Your arm muscles will notice, especially when holding it up for sun-blockage. An accessory that would be very useful would be (as my Mom-in-law & Grampa-in-law mentioned) a very sturdy clip of sorts so that one could attach it to the back of a chair, rather than need to hold it. I looked on the [..] website to see if such a thing was offered, and couldn't find one; I intend to search Amazon.com for one as well.
But that's the only gripe I have concerning this umbrella. I highly recommend it regardless, and am now buying another one for my Dad who suffers rosacea during the hot months in Arizona. I might ask the company if they have plans on making a SunBLOK patio (picnic) umbrella; that would be the perfect umbrella for outside eating in Montana...
Oh, and yes, it's black underneath, and silver (for the blockage) on the outside. The black looks good and works well with the silver both aesthetically and functionally. Who goes around looking up into their umbrella anyway? Myself, I watch where I'm walking. LOL...

I would buy 10 more!!!Sep 26, 2008 A perfect, large umbrella - it does everything it says it can. A huge canopy with plenty of stability. Sun resistance. Gustbusting perfection!!!

Rain or shine, it's perfect!Jul 07, 2008 This is the umbrella I would have invented if I hadn't found it first from GustBuster. My wife must avoid prolonged sun exposure, so the reflective feature of the SunBlok was ideal. Most regular umbrellas allow too much sunlight through, but the dark interior layer really cuts the light and heat down. It's perfect for watching our daughter play soccer, and when the wind or rain comes up, we're good to go. I liked it so much, I bought two, even though it's plenty big enough for both of us to sit under. Actually, I'm surprised I haven't seen more of them on the sidelines, but from the number of inquiries I've had about it already, I'm sure I will. Very well made and well worth the $39 from Amazon. And it's guaranteed for life.
